Residential care is ideal for frail older people in need of additional care and support, without the need for specialist nursing care.
Respite care is ideal for those looking for convalescence, either following a hospital stay or an illness, or if you are caring for a relative and you need time out, perhaps for a well earned holiday. Many people also arrange a trial stay as a temporary resident to see if the home is the right choice for them as their new home.
Dementia is a broad umbrella term used to describe a range of progressive neurological disorders. There are many different types of dementia and some people may present with a combination of types. Regardless of which type is diagnosed, each person will experience their dementia in their own unique way. This is something we fully understand at Hollybank, whilst all our staff are Dementia Friends, we also have a Dementia Champion.
Many people diagnosed with dementia are able to live independently at home, perhaps with a little support from relatives, a friend, or a paid career, but others are best looked after in a residential home.
Sometimes caring for a relative at home 24 hours a day can be very hard work, and can take some of the pleasure away from the time you spend with your loved one.
Our day care visitors can join us from 8am until 6pm, this includes breakfast, lunch and dinner if required. It also includes any entertainment or activites taking place on the day.
Bathing can be increasingly difficult, so while with us we are happy to help in our dedicated bathroom with bath and hoist.
If you or your loved one are not quite ready for full time care we can offer a stepping stone approach, we are happy to help with one day, increasing slowly to ease loved ones into going into full time care.
You are more than welcome to come and join your loved one for dinner, or a cup of tea at any time.

We work in close harmony with local General Practitioners and District Nurses to ensure that excellent medical care is provided if required. Individual care plans are written up by our trained staff and agreed with the client or clients family, to ensure that every aspect of client needs are met. When required our well trained, caring staff are able to assist our residents by administering medication that has been prescribed by the GP. This can remove the worry some residents and families may have, making sure the resident takes the correct medication at the correct time.
We are served by 2 local surgeries with whom we have long lasting links with visits to the home as needed. We have enhanced the support available to our residents by contracting one of our local GP's to come to the home once a month and do a 'ward round' where every resident is able to be seen, this vastly improves the well being of the our residents by ensuring that anything is identified as early as possible. This is a service which you wont find in many homes, and we are proud to be proactive for the benefit of our residents.
Keeping physically and mentally active is very important for good health, we provide a comprehensive program of
entertainment and activities.
We have a range of entertainers who visit the home to deliver activities such as Singing, Instrumental Performances,
Birds of Prey, Exotic Animals, Exercises and Quizzes. We also provide in-house activities such as Bingo,
Hand and Nail Care, Arts and Crafts, Gardening Club, Monthly Country themed afternoons.
We also host special events which families and friends are welcome to join us for such as BBQs and Coffee Mornings.
We also feel that it is important that residents remain active in the local community, they can access local services with a member of staff, they can go to church or other community groups, or simply go out for coffee, visit local shops, or spend some time in the pubs.
Our garden has been purposely designed to be dementia friendly and fully accessible. Our residents are free to sit and relax in the fresh air, explore the vibrant flowers and participate in our gardening club.
Our residents can enjoy a true salon experience in our dedicated Salon and Beauty room, complete with professional salon chair. We are able to offer hairdressing & barbering, Podiatry, Pedicures, Manicures and any other treatments that a resident would like.
Our doors are never closed to relatives and friends who want to visit and we actively encourage you to come for tea, or even a lunch (by prior arrangement).
